There is a lot of superstition surrounding Halley's Comet.
240BC: The Chinese saw Halley's Comet believing it was a broom star. Broom stars were meant to clear the heavens from evil.
1061: It was thought that Halley's comet was the reason for King Harold's demise.
1910: The news went crazy with superstition. People thought that Halley's Comet was going to crash into Earth and kill everyone.
All of these events were blamed on Halley's Comet.
1986: In its most recent fly-by, the Tchernobyl nuclear disaster occurred on the 26th April.It was the biggest nuclear disaster in history until the recent Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011. Earlier that year the space shuttle 'Challenger' broke apart 73 seconds after its launch. All 7 crew members died.
